Edgey on the Edge
Edge is a festival of alternative fashion, held twice yearly in London and Las Vegas. It displays genres from pin-up, 50's and 60's, goth, steampunk, fetishes and pretty much whatever is edgy or a bit over the Edge.
The opening day was of course also followed by much anticipated opening party at Electrowerkz, a unique venue that usually serves as more of a goth club; but to everyone's disappointed, not that this year there were no complimentary drinks, but we were also deprived of the usual ceremony and one of those amazing excentric shows. Nevertheless, it was still an opportunity not to be missed, as you could connect with a lot of interesting people on very casual bases and also enjoyed the whole ''fashion show'' made by uniquely dressed attendees.
I've first visited it two years ago, and at that time the dates felt exactly on mardi-gras, the old pagan celebration at the end of the winter or, with other words, the spring version of Halloween. Therefore I was triggered to put on my ''tin-man'' dress I bought for a new year's party I've never attended, but I just felt that might be a bit over the edge. So I settled for a bit more of a conservative look, just to discovered the trade show is not just a fantastic networking opportunity but also a great one to truly express yourself. I was passed by girls that seemed to jump from the previous century, hair of all styles and colours and accessories that you could hardly imagine and probably haven't seen before.
So this year I decide to fit in at my finest, or at least try. I dragged my dress from somewhere towards the bottom of the closet and on rainy Sunday afternoon headed toward the Business exhibition center, just in time to have a quick look around before the show.
I first hit on the candy station that was there just like I remembered it. Passing some interesting colour stands, the first one that grabbed my attention completely was the one from Miranda's Choice, a German brand creating cute little hats and adorable handmade jewelry, featuring different themes from fairy tale world such as Alice in Wonderland, to food related pieces including such made with real popcorn. Their adorable cover girl was kind enough to gift me a pineapple shaped pin that will always remind me of this inspiring encounter.

While I felt that the whole exhibition shrank a bit with less exhibitor presenting their artworks this time, I was able to spot some regulars, such as Collectif and Hell bunny, and new smaller independent artists.
The catwalk consisted of different styles, with 6 brands showing off their finest pieces and a wrap of stylist's edits.
